First Fruits: A Stewardship Journey

By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me.
Psalm 42:8

Fall weather arrived just in time to usher in the season of gratitude and grace. The month of November begins with a celebration of All Saints Day in the church. It is good and right to remember that ‘great cloud of witnesses’ that came before us, including the people in our own lives who led us to the faith. This ‘good news’ we sing, of a love that saves us all, is a song that has been passed down through a hundred faithful generations.

Now, it is our turn to carry the tune, to show the world how to hum a few bars, to inspire others to sing along with us this song of love that never ends. Therefore, November is also stewardship month. We will hear from different members of our church family each week about what the church means to them and why they give.

In December, we will prepare for the birth of the Christ child with three very special services of worship: a Hanging of the Greens ceremony on December 3rd, our Children’s Pageant on December 10th, and a Choral Cantata, “Night of the Father’s Love,” on December 17th. Then, with great joy, we will welcome the Light of the World on Christmas Eve with a single service of worship at 7:00 pm.

I give thanks to God for each of you, for the many different notes you sing, and for your willingness to join the chorus here at Miami Shores Community Church!

With you on the journey,

Rev. Meg Watson
