“Widen the Welcome” Mental Health Awareness
May 20 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Sunday – May 20 at 10:30 a.m.
The UCC has set aside the third Sunday in May to encourage churches across the nation to focus on mental health awareness, as well as provide education and support around mental health challenges. The events of Parkland, Waffle House, and others have all laid bare the impact that a lack of mental health care is having on our schools and communities. The theme for this effort is, “Widen the Welcome: UCC for Mental Health.” Miami Shores Community Church is embracing this idea by highlighting awareness and providing mental health information to our congregation. There will be fliers with information about local resources covering abuse, domestic violence, addiction treatment, and many other areas of concern to our community. In addition to our focus on Mental Health, this Sunday also happens to be Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost is a joyful day, celebrating the birth of the Christian Church when the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus’ disciples. On this seventh Sunday after Easter, the church will be decorated in red paraments and everyone is encouraged to WEAR RED to commemorate Pentecost. Don’t miss this powerful and impactful service!
